Creating Presentations

This page provides some tips and tools related to PowerPoint, Google Slides, and similar presentation software.

Office 365 & Google Slides

Office 365 is available for free to Kirtland students.  Office Online includes Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OneNote.  Students who choose to install full Office will also be able to use Publisher

To receive your free student version of Office, you must first register your Kirtland email with Microsoft at this site:

Google Slides are available through the Google apps menu in the upper right corner of your Kmail (Kirtland email). 

Help from Hoonuit

Instructional videos are available for many types of presentation software through Hoonuit.  You will find a link to Hoonuit in the sign-in drop down menu on the Kirtland website.

Hoonuit provides instructional videos about

  • design of presentation
    • Effective Presentation Design 
    • How Do I Create a Unique Presentation?
    • Strategic Use of Multimedia
  • and how to use (inserting video, animating, etc.) some programs including PowerPoint and Google Slides.   

1. Choose Hoonuit from the drop down Sign in menu, located on the college's home page.

2.  Enter your term in the search box at the top of the page. Hoonuit_search_Nov_2017.png


3.   Scroll through the results and choose the best match.  Changing the way your results are sorted sometimes helps.



4. Choose from the available videos within the area you'd like to learn more about, or view them all in order as a tutorial.

Films on Demand

Films on Demand is an academic streaming video collection available with your single sign-on through the Kirtland Library.  You can watch entire titles or pre-created segments.  As the preview below shows, Films on Demand has videos on a wide range of topics.  You can use them for research or as part of your presentation.  You can create your own segments and include them in your presentation with the provided embed codes and links.
