FAQs - Library Information

Frequently Asked Questions about the KCC Library

Through My Account in the Kirtland Catalog you can see what materials you have checked out and when they are due, put an item on hold, see if you have any library charges, and create book lists.

How can I see my account information?

When you click on the Kirtland Catalog, you will be taken to a search page.  In the upper right corner you will see either your name and information regarding your account, or a My Account button.

Use your single sign in to log into your library account.  Clicking on any of the account information will bring you to a screen with more detailed information.

It will tell you how many items you have checked out, how many you have on hold, how many are ready for pickup, and how much you owe in fines.

How do I put an item on hold?

When you find an item you would like to place on hold in the Kirtland catalog, click “Place Hold” by the green check mark to the right of the title.  If you have not yet done your single sign-on you will be taken to the sign-in page of My Account.  Once signed in, you will be able to place and remove holds.

How do I renew an item?

An item from the Kirtland collection may be renewed once provided there are no holds on the item.  Items need to be renewed on or prior to their due dates.  You can renew your item in My Account or by contacting library personnel.

To renew items in My Account, choose "Items Checked Out" from the row of tabs across your account page.  Put a check in the box to the left of the title you wish to renew, choose renew selected titles from the drop-down menu, and click "Go".

How do I renew materials received through interlibrary loan?

Please contact the Library if you would like to renew an interlibrary loan item.  Because the item does not belong to Kirtland, the lending library will need to be contacted regarding the request.  You will receive an email to inform you whether or not the renewal was granted.

Is there a way to create book lists?

Yes!  You might want to create a list of materials you are considering borrowing for a project, or lists of books you want to read or think would make good gifts.  My Account allows you to create and manage lists of items from the Kirtland Library collection.
