Information, how-to, FAQs, and other tidbits regarding Interlibrary Loans

How do I request Interlibrary Loan items?

In order to check out Interlibrary Loan items, you MUST have a CURRENT Kirtland Community College Patron Registration Card on file. See Interlibrary Loan FAQs page on filling out a Patron Registration Card.

To request Interlibrary Loan items, follow the instructions below:

  1. Go to the Kirtland Community College Library homepage - http://www.kirtland.edu/library
  2. Find eCatalogs - Find Books and click on WorldCat.
  3. Public patrons must see a staff member.
  4. Students/Faculty/Staff must sign in with their Single Sign-On to use WorldCat.

Showing WorldCat link

The WorldCat link brings you to the WorldCat Advanced Search page. In the "search for" box, type in the title, author, subject or keyword. To the right of the search box is a drop down menu where you indicate the type of search you want to conduct. The default is keyword but you can change it to search for the title, author, subject, etc. Below the many limiting options is the search button. Click on Search.

From the resulting WorldCat list of Records, click on the title you want.

On the WorldCat Detailed Record screen of the title you've chosen, there will be a row of buttons in the upper left corner labeled subjects, libraries, email, print, etc. Click on the button labeled, ILL.

Note: Occasionally, there is not an ILL tab at the top of the screen. If you do not see it, contact a Library staff member.

You will now be on the Interlibrary Loan Request page. Fill out the required boxes with your first name, last name, address, city, postal code, telephone, email, and 6-digit KCC ID. If you need an item by a certain date, please complete that section also. Then click the submit button which is in the far left of the screen below the comments section.
