2018-06CGJMTC Range 30/40 PFAS MW Sampling effort – June 2018
During interviews conducted as part of the recent NGB Preliminary Assessment investigation of the greater Camp Grayling, the whole of Range 30 was identified as an Area of Interest (AOI) related to the potential use of PFAS containing materials for wildfire/grass fire fighting. The Camp Grayling PA also identified an AOI at Range 40 similar to that at Range 30, however wildfire fighting at Range 40 is believed to have taken place only along the range perimeter fence due to UXO concerns. As a result of the AOIs identified on Range 30 and Range 40 MIARNG implemented an expedited groundwater sampling effort using all existing and accessible monitoring wells and selected surface water locations at these two ranges. This expedited sampling event was agreed upon by MPART members and actioned by MIARNG ahead of NGB’s proposed timeline for Site Investigations (and the associated groundwater sampling). The samples were collected between June 25 and 29, 2018, the analytical results were received on August 1, 2018.
