The Embedded Librarian service is available to support your students within your course(s). After you opt-in, library staff will have the ability to view your course content, assignments, projects, discussion topics, and more on Canvas. Using this information, we will:
The Kirtland Librarian profile and library staff do not have access to view student grades, submitted assignments, activity, or other details.

We recommend that all Kirtland students use NoodleTools to create and manage citations for papers, projects, and assignments. NoodleTools is an online tool that helps students easily create citations according to MLA, APA, or Chicago Style. Using these citations, students can automatically create properly formatted Works Cited (MLA), References (APA), or Bibliography (Chicago Style) to accompany your paper. NoodleTools is easy to use and free for Kirtland students.
LibGuides are customizable guides created and maintained by the Kirtland Library staff. Guides have been created for most courses, as well as other topics or subjects- this Faculty Support site is a LibGuide! Because these guides are managed by Kirtland Library staff, we can connect users directly to Kirtland library resources like databases, ebooks, streaming video, and more.
Library staff can include a variety of types of resources and media within guides, as well as helpful text and information, to support students. For example, when including eBook titles related to a course research project, the guide will also have information about how to access and use eBooks.
LibGuides can be embedded into your course shell on Canvas. You can also choose to embed guides that are not course-specific, but may be helpful for your students. Examples of some general guides that might support your course include:
Contact the Kirtland Library for information about creating a guide for your course, embedding a LibGuide into your Canvas shell, or changing the content on an existing LibGuide.
If you would like a specific book or items available for your students, contact us about placing the item(s) on reserve for the semester.
If the Kirtland Library does not own or have access titles that you believe would be helpful for your students, please use this form to suggest a purchase.
The Library may also be able to get a book, journal article, or other item through Interlibrary Loan.
Library staff is available to visit your class and share information about library resources and how they connect to your course. Some of the topics we can cover include:
Instruction can be scheduled for any point in the semester to best align with your course content.
